Mastercard® Credit Cards

As part of our recent system upgrades we are making exciting new improvements to our credit card program. This upgrade includes switching plastic card relationships from VISA® to Mastercard®. For enhanced security, we'll be issuing new credit cards with EMV-chip technology that creates a unique code for each transaction, making counterfeiting much more difficult. The new chip cards will contain the standard magnetic stripe to accommodate merchants who don't yet have the new technology. For more information about the credit card changes please read the information that was mailed to credit card holders in early September. Credit Card Mailing

Important information to know about the credit card upgrade:

  • Your current Visa credit card will be good through 10/30/16. You may activate and begin using your new Mastercard credit card on 10/31/16.
  • We will reissue new credit cards with a new account number in Mid-October.
  • You will receive a separate mailing that contains your PIN number.
  • The new payment address, effective 10/31/16, is: SPE Federal Credit Union, 650 N Science Park Road, State College, PA 16803. If you have an automatic bill payment for your credit card bill, be sure to update the address and account number.
  • If you have merchants tied to your credit card for reoccurring payments (i.e. utilities, gym membership, Amazon, prescription refills, etc.) you will need to inform them of your new card number.
  • To report a lost or stolen card on or after 10/31/16, call 1-800-528-2273 or 812-647-9794 for international callers.
  • Please note if your Visa credit card has been previously closed, but you continue to make payments on your credit card account, you will not receive a new Mastercard.
